The Good Wife Guide: 19 Rules for Keeping a Happy Husband

LOL Humor on Nearly Every Page!
This book takes about the same time to read as a short article however it is LOL funny on nearly every page. It seems to me that most men would enjoy being treated this way after a long day at work. Since both people are usually working and trying to keep a marriage together tasks have to be more evenly divided these days. But this book could work for a woman who is not working who is staying home to raise a family.Cooking from scratch is no small feat! I do cook from scratch a lot of the time so maybe that is why I've been married 28 years! The book doesn't exactly say that but implies that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. (My husband just asked me to make him homemade spice cookies. I reminded him I haven't taken out the butter!)This book is a look at more traditional roles in marriage from 1940/1950 and to someone in 2024 it may seem like a hilarious comedy. I do think some of the tips do work for today however although my husband seems capable of finding his own slippers! :)So laugh away, but take some of the tips seriously as some men still enjoy this type of treatment. The Good Husband Guide is also amusing but seems written for women to read as well. So maybe these would make a nice gift together for a woman.~The Rebecca Review

Women (and men) in relationship may find this an Amusing Read - Great Gift
I was surprised by the high ratings, inspired by a Season 1 NCIS episode (chuckle). You either know or you don't. A reasonable price is a great gift idea, and some timeless insights.Men reading this will be like, 'OMG, do such women exist - ever?!!!' along with 'Really, I'd never want that!' - though a timeless 'gag-gift' of sorts, a fun coffee table (or restroom) read item to have laying around. There is a 'battle of the sexes' that has resurfaced. As an author (I do need to publish my POTU Relationship Guides for the modern era), men and women can learn from the past and decide how they want to live and navigate. If you will get this one, get the one for men, too (chuckle). If you are a coffee shop or gift store owner, I will keep each case available for sale, as well as a great gift item for weddings, engagements, or serious 'dating' (chuckle). One thing that struck me is that we (men and women) have always wanted to be our best and make things work in committed relationships. Traditional roles can be fluid and flexible in the modern era, which is a positive evolution as our species explores traditionally suppressed identities and roles.

Some advice not applicable - but great little book!
I loved this little book - and have seen this "advice" in many retro books/magazines. What a shame everyone thinks it's such a "gag" - there have been and actually are wives that serve their husbands - but also - the husband serves them as well - old-fashioned roles - probably more religous couples - but respect and doing everything you can for your partner out of love...not just a one-way street! I think the point is - to think not only of yourself - but your mate - make fun of those that live by these types of traditional arrangements by choice (note - BY CHOICE) - but those that are truly happy - who is really having the last laugh - those happily married for 30, 40, 50+ years - while everyone else is divorced and dragging the kids through that? I do not assume that all divorces are avoidable - but hope others do not make the assumption that any wife that lives by these types of philosophies are oppressed, unfufilled, or unhappy - maybe some are that way - but believe me - just as many are deeply fulfilled by their lives and love. The sad thing is - the husband of a traditional couple like this says that men married to career women secretly come to him all the time and tell him they are jealous of him and the devotion of his wife. Not for power or control - but yearning for a traditional home/family...which current economics and politics are putting out of reach for most people - not to mention decades of feminist indocrtination for young women - who end up with lonely and sad lives - or husbands that tell other men they are jealous of them - except they will say their lives in their cubicles and nightclubs are perfect for them - well - more power to them, I guess.... Sad - these husbands have to say stuff like that to a co-worker - instead of talking directly with their partner....that they seem to imply they don't think their wives love them "enough"..... - Thinking of doing things for a person you love is not subservience - and that is what a lot of people here seem to assume. By the way - there is a guide book to be a good husband as well on this site! Get that too!!!!! Great little present - whether you think the concept is a "gag" or good advice!

Best addition for a friends bachelorette gift or a "Marriage Survival kit"
I had bought this book as a gift for my bride-to-be friend. It was a pre-wedding gift where I made her a "Marriage survival kit" and this was the perfect addition to the kit. Infact, it was one of the highlights. The books is good quality, hard cardboard with quirky vintage imagery and the rules are hilarious. It is a good twist to all the typical wedding gifts. We even put tiny notes on some pages of different puns and sarcasms on the actual rules.I was on a budget while doing the gift and this turns out to be budget friendly. She loved it! so it worked out pretty well. I would strongly recommend it as a fun gift for a bride. I am actually looking for other books that are similar to this to gift to the other girls in the group. Would love to know if someone has suggestions!

Great gag gift
Got this for my wife's birthday. She opened it in front of her mom and we all had a good laugh at the 1950's advice for the newly married housewife. Would also work great for a wedding/ bridal shower gift.

Arrived fast.
Bought as part of few Christmas gifts for my sister in law. She laughed and loved it but what amazes me is it shipped from uk. How do I know? Because tracking said Royal Mail. Well with all the port stuff throughout the USA right now I was like great. Let me get something else just in case. Nope. No need to worry at all. In less than a week it got here. It actually beat me home for the holidays. Lol
