Easy to install and expands to very long

I got this because I got tired of seeing all those bugs and other little things just passing by the skimmer. Although it was a shot in the dark, I thought I’d give it a try. This was easy to assemble and setup and catches all that stuff and directs it into the skimmer.

This product appears to work satisfactorily when it stays connected. Two times I found it floating in the pool after a higher flow cycle on my pump. On further investigation, the adjustable pieces designed to hold it firmly in place don't extend far enough. If I connect it right on the edge of the skimmer where it's thicker it doesn't have enough surface to stay, and when I move the hand just past the lip the adjusters max out and spin just at the needed tightness. Currently I added some material between it and the skimmer box to allow it to stay firmer... we will see. FYI, above ground 24' round with new liner, skimmer, and plumbing last month.

Not impressed. Seems like it would work but actually it did not. Also doesn't really stay in place well. Returned.

First of all, if you don't have a round pool, I'm not sure this will work well. There needs to be a swirling/whirlpool movement of the water to move the debris in a circle around the perimeter of the pool. You need to set up your return jet to be angled so that the water is pushed around the outside of the pool. This product acts like an "arm" to essentially collect more of the debris that would immediately get pulled into the intake filter due to the debris being a bit too far away from the filter. This arm funnels the debris in and clears the pool quick than waiting for the debris to go around again, and hopefully be closer to the skimmer intake the next time. It absolutely works and probably clears debris from the surface of the water at least twice as fast as it would without the product.With that said, there are some improvements that can be made:1) The arm sometimes cannot be positioned high enough to keep the far end of the plastic arm from sagging/dipping under water. There is a high/low setting, and I've manipulated the screw caps to increase height further, but it's not always enough as there is just too much flex in the plastic. I solved this by cutting a 2in piece of pool noodle and making a slice so it can be placed under the plastic arm and provide support through flotation.2) Again, the plastic needs to be more rigid. Once it gets hot out, the arm not only sags, but also flexes backwards a bit too much from the current of the circulating pool water. This pushes the arm out towards the center of the pool and begins to reduce efficiency of collecting the debris. I solved this by adding a thin strip of metal to the top of the arm.

I have my jets set to create a good flow (in a circle). This then pushes the stuff on top to the skimmer- I am happy!

This year we have a lot of bugs that are getting into the pool. The skimmer does a great job but I wanted to look for something that would help push more stuff into the skimmer. I saw the debris catcher and thought I would give it a try. It installs quickly and easily. The issue I have is the catcher moves and ends up against the pool wall. I have tried numerous times to tighten the thing but somehow after a few day it starts moving again. It came with two catchers that you put together. They are not difficult to attach to one another so that’s a plus. However the second catcher sags and end up ¾ under the water which does nothing. I ended up taking the second catcher off and am just using one catcher that does not sag and helps divert some stuff into the skimmer. I was hoping this would solve my problem but it just does not work the way I expected it to. I did find it reasonably priced which was another plus. Even though this item was reasonable prices I would not purchase this again. Every few days I have to move the catcher back to its original place and tighten it up. This item just does not meet my expectations:
