SOMMER 4020 TX03 868-4 Garage Door Remote Control 4 Button

I had been warned about the complexity of setting up these remotes ( they go in the wash far too easily) .The setup was simple - the supplied instructions needed a magnifying glass but I found the same on-line . Followed to the letter and three doors set up on the same remote no problem!Build quality seems as good as original.. now just need to fix to a big piece of wood so it doesn’t get left in a pocket for the wash….

Easy to programme and good value for money. Only problem is that the model I bought has a metal clip on the side which gets in the way and also allows the unit to fully slide out on occasions, as opposed to just doing this when you need to change the battery. Next time I will get the model with 2 buttons that is fully connected with the case and doesn't slide out.

Once we found out how to make it link with the existing electric door it works very well.

We inherited the garage door opening system on buying the house; but no instructions. One opener got lost a couple of years ago and the other ended up only working intermittently. It was all a bit panicky - would it need an expensive repair/replacement? After reading the positive reviews on here, I crossed everything and sent for the Sommer remote. The longest time was spent on a search of the internet to find the type of radio receiver and its manual - but then I managed to easily program the remote in seconds. What a relief! Seemingly expensive on one level, but nothing to what it could have cost for someone to come out and sort it.

I purchased as replacement for existing garage door remote, as the buttons were worn on the original.I was quoted several high prices for replacement remotes from various retailers that I contacted and found this on Amazon for less that half the price I was quoted elsewhere. The instructions are not 100% clear; as with most foreign instruction leaflets, but with a little common sense (a rare commodity these days...not available on Amazon either!) my Father and I managed to get it working in a matter of minutes.Great value and does the job....what else do you need to know?

Larger than expected, and doesn't have the quality feelin teh hand that I was expecting. It would be good if Sommer produced a "learning" version for use with Hormann, Garador etc.
