I really like the Faber piano series- the lesson and theory books go hand in hand, and help explain the concepts to the beginning student.

This is a great series for piano instruction. We are on our third piano instructor over the course of 5 years and all of them have used this series for their lessons.

We bought this for our kids (mediocre piano players) and they love it. It is not too difficult that they want to keep practicing.

It’s designed in a way that makes theory less intimidating, which is something I was worried about when we first started exploring music theory.The improvisation activities are one aspect that particularly catches my attention. When it comes to playing the piano, they truly provide my son a sense of creative release. He is encouraged to experiment with his own musical ideas rather than merely following the sheet music. It keeps him interested, allows him to be creative, and reinforces the lessons he's learning in an enjoyable and useful way. This book does a fantastic job of making theory feel less like a chore if that's what you're looking for.
