Keeping it clear
As someone who understands the importance of crystal-clear pool water, especially with the warm summer here in Boaz, AL, a reliable filter pump is absolutely essential. I recently upgraded to the XtremePowerUS 13-inch sand filter pump, and overall, it's been a great addition to my pool setup.Review: XtremePowerUS 13-inch Sand Filter Pump – A Powerful Cleaner, Just Needs a Window to the WorldKeeping an above-ground pool pristine can be a chore, but the right equipment makes all the difference. My new XtremePowerUS 13-inch sand filter pump has proven to be a workhorse, making pool maintenance significantly easier.Quality & Performance: A Clean MachineFirst off, the overall quality of this pump is commendable. It feels solidly built, and the components appear durable enough to withstand the demands of continuous pool filtration. The pump is adequately powered for its size, effectively circulating the water and pushing it through the sand media. It works exactly as it should, consistently keeping my pool water nice and clean. Gone are the days of cloudy water and visible debris; this filter system maintains a clarity that makes swimming much more inviting. For the performance it delivers, the price was good, offering excellent value compared to other options on the market.Shipping & Setup: Swift and SimpleThe purchasing experience was also top-notch. The shipping was fast, getting the pump to my doorstep in Guntersville quicker than expected. This meant less downtime for my pool and more time for enjoyment. Setup was straightforward, and I had it up and running without any major hiccups, which is always a relief when dealing with new pool equipment. The One Missing Piece: No Site GlassMy only significant critique, and it's one that impacts convenience more than core performance, is the lack of a dedicated site glass to know when to backwash. For those unfamiliar, a site glass (or sight glass) is a small, clear window usually located on the multiport valve of a sand filter. It allows you to visually monitor the color of the backwash water. When the water turns clear, you know the sand is clean and you can stop the backwash cycle.Without this feature, I'm left guessing a bit. While I rely on the pressure gauge (backwashing when the pressure rises about 8-10 PSI above its clean reading) and a rough estimate of time, a visual confirmation would be incredibly helpful. It would prevent over-backwashing (saving water) or under-backwashing (ensuring optimal filtration). It's a small detail that makes a big difference in efficient maintenance.Final Verdict:Despite the absence of a site glass, the XtremePowerUS 13-inch sand filter pump is an excellent choice for maintaining a clean and clear above-ground pool. Its good quality, effective cleaning power, and competitive price, coupled with fast shipping, make it a highly recommended product. If you're comfortable relying on your pressure gauge and a bit of a routine for backwashing, this pump will serve you very well and keep your pool sparkling clean all season long. It's a solid 5 out of 5 stars for its performance and value!

Easy set up if you gather what you need first
The set up took about an hour. It was a little frustrating to not have connection instructions, that was kind of a guessing game where tubes went. I believe it’s because being a universal pump, different pools have different inlet and outlets. We have two holes for pumps, where some have only one. There seems to be a lot of power to this pump and the water is definitely moving well. I think it’s neat that it has the timer function so we can set it to start and stop so that it does not need to run continuously like our old pump. This is only day one so I cannot comment on durability until we’ve run it a season, or at least for a few weeks. We have a skimmer attached and that seems to be working well with the pump. We opted to use sand, but I believe you can use filter balls. We have an 18 foot easy set pool and this seems to filter the water sufficiently..

Not impressed
Not impressed - very quiet when running & seems to have a good flow rate coming back into the pool, but it is not filtering as well as my other pool pump. Been running it 24 hrs for almost 2 weeks with frequent backwashes/rinses with no noticeable clearing of the water. This filter does not have the "spokes" like my old one - not sure if that is the issue. I get more sediments and gunk using my Pool Blaster Max vacuum!Update: I cleared my tank of the mystic white sand and tried my go-to brand of pool sand with no noticeable difference in water clarity. Water tests show everything in the correct range. Have messaged the company for ideas to troubleshoot besides those on their website or in their manual.Update 2: No response from the company. Was able to connect the old sand tank (with the laterals) to the new pump today - same HP as the old pymp. Pool is clearing nicely with noticeable difference in only 6 hours!

Game-Changer for Our Coleman Pool
Last year we bought a Coleman Power Steel 16’ x 10’ x 42” Oval Above Ground Pool. I spent more time cleaning, balancing, and shocking the pool than actually swimming in it, all because of the underpowered filter that came with the pool set. The first one even burnt out and the replacement filter but it just wasn’t strong enough. It was a constant battle just to keep the water clear. This filter? A total freaking game-changer. It’s easily 6–7 times bigger and more powerful than the stock filter, and the difference is unreal. In the past month, I’ve barely had to clean the pool at all. The water stays crystal clear, and I’m not constantly chasing algae or dumping in extra shock. We did have to stop by the pool store to grab different hoses and clamps to make everything fit, but honestly? Totally worth it. It tooo my partner 30-40 minutes to install it so I suppose it was fairly ease to follow the directions to install or watch a YouTube video of the installation. Is it a little overkill for the size of our Coleman pool? Probably. Was it worth every single penny so we could spend more time actually enjoying the pool instead of maintaining it?Absolutely. If you’re on the fence — get it. Your future self (and your family and kids, if you got ‘em), floating peacefully in clean water instead of fighting with murky chaos, will thank you.

Good pump but not very honest.
Great Upgrade over my original .25 pool pump. But it's not a 3/4 or .75 the motor says .45 and the manual says it's .35 but for the cost for both pump and sand filter it's good. BTW read where the connections go it's well hidden next the threaded inserts. And get #20 pool sand. This is setup for both 1 1/4 and 1 1/12pool hose connections.

Works great!
This filter/pump works so much better than the smaller pump that came with the pool! The only issue we have is that there is some light dripping around the hose connections coming off the pump. I'm hopeful that some different hose clamps will take care of it. If it doesn't, I'll still use it as is.
