This Solingen file is the ONLY brand that works good! All those other inferior brands just cannot compare to Solingen. I've been using foot planes since 1998 and Solingen was the original brand I had and used for years. Then suddenly, I couldn't find them locally at ANY store, so AMAZON to the rescue! If you ever use a Solingen German engineered model, you will never ever settle for another! And the blades....Solingen is the only way to go. I am thrilled to find this at such a great price, and this was packaged nicely and looks high end. You can't tell by the pics, but it is looks like such a nice professional tool. My daughter asked, "Ooooh...where did you get this?" She was also impressed! And it comes with a file tool that works like no other file I've ever used.

I love the product but was disappointed that a box of blades (shown on Amazon) did not come with the order.

This is the third Credo Solingen Planer that I have ordered: The first two were great, came as advertised and I still use them- - the third, ordered for a different house, came in weird packaging. I couldn't tell if the package contained the rasp until I opened it and doing so ruined the box! It turns out that the rasp was included but the instructions were nil. There is no way to store this item safely as shipped. And... THIS IS SHARP! It's practically dangerous. You have to be extremely careful with this item and the way this set arrived, loose and without instructions re how to change the blade or change out the rasp... well, it was bad. Why didn't I get the item that was advertised? I don't know- - but I'm not happy about it. Amazon has been really unreliable these days. UGH. AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

I've tried many different kinds of these types of cutters/blades and every time I go back to the Credo Solingen. The handle and blades are just made well. Good quality. I used to think if the blade is too sharp I'll cut myself. Yes, if you're not careful that can happen but it's when you use dull blades you subject yourself to getting cut more. Hope this makes sense.
