great product for the price.

Shipped quick and works great. Had to modify the qt code a bit to get it tho compile. Luckily all the source is open and available. A little disappointed the logic lines are only rated for 3.3v. But the analog works great.

Great budget oscilloscope - just keep expectations reasonable

Solder on the headers, plug it into a breadboard, download the software from the Gabotronics website and try it out. You'll also need a USB cable like the kind that connects an android phone to the computer (the older ones - not the new symmetric ones) The software takes a bit of getting used to, but is intuitive, and easy to play with. The application has tabs for the oscilloscope, voltmeter, signal generator and logic functions. You can plug the probe (i.e. a jumper wire) into the signal generator output and see the waveforms up to 100kHz. (I could measure up to about 500kHz from another source). This is certainly worth the $20. If I fry mine I'll definitely get another.

Where's the download page?

when i go to the website and click for this product it says "On vacations" but you should only take ONE vacation at a time when you have a website to build and reviews to read.

Disappointed by the lack of instructions.

Was really excited when I bought this and attached the headers as pictured on the website. I realized after using it for two hours that the pin labels are on the reverse. Having the labels not visible really affects the ease in using this product. I wish it would've had instructions. There is a generic XScope manual on the website, but none for this specific model. The software side is intuitive and works well on windows 8.1.2021 EDIT: It still works on android 8 and windows 10, the software documentation has improved a little bit. You do need to update the firmware which is scary but the step-by-step instructions are on the manufacturer's website. Note that packet sniffer and serial decoder do not work on android at all.

It is fun to play with.

They include a pinout diagram and a URL on the anti-static bag the board comes with. As long as you realize that the diagram shows the bottom view, you will be fine. You need to download the software and documentation from the Internet. I used the Linux software. One thing you need to be aware of is that it does not create a serial device and you have to ignore that part of the options. It looks like the board can be hooked to a serial adapter, but you have to provide your own pins, or direct wire it. The connection is NOT at RS-232 levels! When you are using the logic Analyzer, remember that it is for 3.3 volt logic, not 5 volt logic, so be careful of what you hook it to. (This is covered in the specification in the product description.)This is not a general purpose scope. But for monitoring wave forms and signal levels on your Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC, etc circuits, it is a handy tool.

Perfect for the price

Considering the price - this thing is very good.Yes, analog channels are 8bit, meaning you get only 256 "pixels" of voltage resolution. Yes, the smallest step is around 10-20 mV, which is too high for some low-power applications like audio. Yes, the waveform generator is not good at frequencies over 10K. Yes, there's noise at around 20-40mV, making low power analysis even less practical. And the software is buggy and some functions in it work incorrectly. But still for the price a real oscilloscope with USB connection - it's very good imho. And also it's open source so you can fix the bugs yourself in both firmware and software :)

Tons of features very useful for electronics projects and audio work.

great product if you can live with 2Ms/s. I have used this for a while and I am very impressed with the capability that you get for $20. One thing that I did notice is that the software does not have the full functionality of the full size boards. Specifically the post trigger adjustment. I emailed the developer and he is planning to add it to the software. for $20 you cant go wrong.

Good value. The UART protocol decoder alone is worth the price.I used this to diagnose broken GPIO pins on a Raspberry Pi B+, and to verify that I configured its replacement's serial port (/dev/ttyAMA0) properly. The 'Scope function works as advertised. Just don't expect much bandwidth above audio frequencies. A Techtronix it's not, but for $20, it's way cool.
