I have a 5 foot opening into my home office in the new house I just built. Guess what? 5' barn doors are freakin' expensive if you buy them complete. I had a craftsman construct mine from premium grade beech paneling and 1x6 trim. Only problem was, the door was crazy heavy. Most barn door hardware is rated for 250 pounds. This door blew right by that metric and I was leery of using lite-weight hardware. This kit is rated over 300 pounds (maybe 350?) and when installed (I have 11 feet of track to completely clear the opening) the door rolls incredibly smoothly. It has rubber stops on each end of the door, so you never have to worry about the door coming off the track. I would so buy this again!Sorry for cropping off the bottom, I had some personal items on the floor I was still putting away.

I've built and installed a lot of barn doors, and recently used this brand/style for a set of doors. I'm not 100% sure I'd use again. Main rail that the wheels run on is actually six 12" inch pieces of steel that are held together by small metal clips that fit (quite well) between each 12" piece of rail. Once mounted the rail seems quite sturdy, but during the install the rails have a fair amount of flex and at one point came apart. Personally I prefer the single piece steel rails. For the price, though, this does seem like a good product as long as you can work with this rail type.

I was surprised how small the box was, then realized the rail was in sections! It was actually kinda fun to put this together- like a puzzle. I've installed a lot of doors and quite a few sliders in my time. This was way different, b/c of the sectional rail. Its pretty ingenious how they designed it tho, with bushings to press (hammer) in to hold sections together. Holes are all 16" OC except for the ends (at 14.5" OC), more of an fyi as its installed in the header so stud spacing is moot. The instructions are crap. I used them to get a general idea of what piece goes where, and measured everything myself. If the directions were better (and bigger) I would give a 5-star... Still, nice hardware and smooth rolling for only $85. Not high quality fine-home stuff, but works in my shop great. Thanks China! Hope you're paying a living wage, but doubtful at this price...

This more than met my expectations. Installing was challenging but that was due to my home not having 2x4 in the right places. I was able to fix that by adding a wood header. This meant I could install directly into the wood and did not need to use the GIANT dowels that were a part of the installation process. That process would have also involved a big drill bit and drilling a huge hole in 9 2x4s. With the weight of most doors I would recommend a header even if your 2x4s are in the right place. Lol.

The door hardware is nice, seems to be good quality. It glides smoothly over straight sections of the track. HOWEVER, the way this track is made with individual sections that you have to connect, makes it virtually impossible to get the track straight. The connection points don't quite fit with each other. I tried several combinations, and eventually got a somewhat straight track that I mounted to a header board for the barn door. The header board is perfectly flat, but unless I slide the door all the way to 'closed' or 'open', the door will slide on its own because the track pieces are all misaligned.I contacted the seller for a replacement of the track. They had me purchase a $5 "improved" track that comes as two pieces (instead of 5 separate pieces). I thought I would have more luck with this new track since it is only two pieces...I was VERY wrong. The replacement is worse than the original track, with the connectors not even close to fitting together. You can clearly see on the pictures that the connection points don't fit together, and one of the ends noticeably curves, so if you manage to get the connections to fit together, you will still have a problem!My recommendation: AVOID this product and get a one-piece, solid track.

Just a warning to Canadians if using Amazon.ca, you WILL be required to pay duty fees upon arrival. This is incredibly frustrating after researching features and brands and prices for hours, making your decision, and then getting surprised at your door when Canada Post has your parcel but won't let you have it until you pay. To be fair, this isn't really the supplier's fault – it's more of an Amazon complaint, but head's up if this sort of thing is a deal breaker for you!
