The little Phillip's screw driver was not the best and is at best a one time use but ...
I bought this to repair my grandson's broken screen. We used this as a learning experience for both of us. He is 8 and I am 56. So we used the YouTube as a guide and the product came with instructions. There were plenty of tools for helping to remove the old screen. The little Phillip's screw driver was not the best and is at best a one time use but it did get the job done. Since this was my first time attempting to repair an item like this, I did like most guys, I looked over the start, middle and end and 3 seconds later, I started with job. I had my grandson help with Heat gun to loosen the glue. He has never used an item like that and he did great with a little instruction to keep moving. He was interested in helping me that he didn't move it much and my fingers were getting too hot. (LOL) But once we got the screen removed we cleaned up the excess glue from new area to put the new screen back down. Here is where I/we had problems. The instructions did not give clear guidance as to how to remove the ribbon cables from the IPAD. I couldn't tell if they were plugged in or just laid upon the strips. They do plug into a slot and I was concerned about bending the ribbon cable. It didn't seem to matter, but I was very careful to plug them back into place. There was a thin ribbon cable and that is the one I had the most trouble with. It doesn't show exactly how to lay it back onto the surface. There is a place where the cable has to be attached to the area where the new screen will be laying on top of it. So it needs to be very flat! I did not do a very good job of that the first time. (yes that means that I had to buy another screen). The thin ribbon fits along the bottom and is also where the push button start is. So careful and test fitting should be tried before removing the glue strips for final fitting. As this was first time, I wasn't sure how this was going to come out. It never occurred to me that after replacing the screen that the IPAD may not work. (Sooooo If you are doing this for someone else than yourself, be aware that you may screw it up enough that you might have to buy another- This was not my case- I was able to get my grandson's working but after looking back, I did not back up any material on the IPAD and that should be considered) Anyway I put the cable back in and tried to fit the new screen. It was perfect right up to that start button. It had a slight hump and so I tried to help into place. I pushed slight, then harder. Of course that was not the right thing as it cracked again. So I ordered another one. It was fast and same as 1st one. I had already had everything cleaned and ready. I took more care that before and if it didn't fit I kept adjusting until it was right. Lastly there was the root cause for changing the screen as My grandson had dropped it and the corner edge was damaged. It might have had something to do with the first repair screen because it was the same corner area were the thin ribbon attaches. I bought a second protector screen and placed it over the new screen. It is better and I feel that it may help with kids being kids and hope it will last longer. The other issue that was not identified early by me or in youtube was "don't touch the LED" with fingers. It is very hard to get the LED part cleaned to be blemish free with the new screen. So I had to buy some cleaning supply's for LED. Also on the corner where it was dropped, there was a chip in corner of LED. I did not order a new LED as I didn't see that until I took it apart. Hind sight, I might have ordered a new LED screen with the new protector screen. So if you are looking to replace yours, you might consider taking apart and inspecting every thing while waiting for new screen to show up. If I would have don't that, I would have saved some time. But I was using this also as a learning guide for my grandson. I had one area (again the corner where broke) and the screen did not want to lay down. I put IPAD on level surface and placed heavier books on it to apply pressure to that area. But after a few hours I removed books and it was visibly detached. It might be the excess amount of handling of this ribbon and removed some glue that part. So my remedy was to use a very very small amount of super glue. I placed a small amount under that corner area and pushed down with fingers to hold. It did the job. He now has some ideas of what it took to repair. I started looking up replacement screens and found a few on other web sites and they were 3x the price of this one. So I was concerned that it wasn't proper part for the job. I did more research and it was exactly the same thickness and part of the competitors. So all in all, this was a do-able job. Patience and smaller hands are needed. Just as a reminder, you are working with broken glass. I placed newspaper under tablet during the removal process and use attention for very small pieces of glass every where. I used a normal flat tip screw driver to help remove old glue and also remove broken glass. They are especially small pieces and will cut your fingers. So using compressed air to remove dust and such, we moved the tablet to outside for spraying the dust/glass out. It seemed with every time I used an alcohol swab - I found another sliver of glass. So again, clean down to metal areas as best as you can. Product was just what I needed but if I wouldn't have tried to get it done in 1 hour, I wouldn't have had to buy another new screen.

Home button loose
Screen worked well after I screwed the Home button on correctly. Unfortunately, I did not notice the loose Home button until after I had it all together. I had to remove the screen and tighten the screws holding the button to the screen. Of course, now the self-adhesive tape was not sticky enough and the screen is no longer tight. However, the digitizer works fine with no screen issues at all.

Does the job and worth the price.
The first one I received had an broken home button, but Amazon replaced it quickly and the second one works perfectly.

Wonderful
I will buy this again when the need arises. Works perfectly and has the CHIP already so no worries. One word of warning though, if you are doing this glass replacement, MAKE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE you disconnect the lcd or digitizer as it is a known issue of blowing the fuse on the motherboard if you don't! Also, the LCD is held in place on the mini's with a little adhesive, so be very gentle when prying up on the LCD as to not crack it. Great digitizer and again, I'll buy this again.

Works fine when unplugged
Once I changed out the screen, the ipad no longer works while charging. Works fine when unplugged, and charges if asleep, but not both. The digitizer works fine other than that, and it's a good price.

... to touch it but the second one worked just fine. It's still cheaper to get two and replace ...
Ordered two and one had spots on the creek that would not allow me to touch it but the second one worked just fine. It's still cheaper to get two and replace the creek yourself than to have a company replace it.
