Green dop wax is a very popular wax for securing cabochons during lapidary work. This specially formulated low temperature wax is ideally suited for heat-sensitive gemstone materials such as opal and turquoise. This lapidary-grade hard dop wax has a melt temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Basic wax for holding stones, worked fine...
Great for holding stones, just wish I could find somebody who sells decent opals!!!

beovercautious about securing precious stones...
first time i used this, an opal went flying across the room & broke. Pretty sad. This hasnt been my experience every use, but im very cautious about when & where i use it now...

It's either me or the wax!
I needed to add wax to this product to get it to adhere. I am a novice, but I expected it to work better than just plain wax.🤔

Doesn't work well
I've cleaned the rocks, heated them and the wax (160) but it will not stick at all. They just pop right off. The rocks have been sanded with 60 grit, so there is lots of grip on the rocks and it will not stick at all. The slightest accidental tap and they go flying
