Fabulous quality
Bought for my son who is sooooo in love with idea of magical elves. This product did not disappoint. Its really good quality, the story book is a fabulous addition and helps shape the rules (without it being a parent restriction, such as the 'no touching or it'll lose its powers' rule.I honestly think he's more excited about this elf than the 'big fella in red' 😁Absolute value for your money.Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄

Great concept - a lot of fun!
The book is a little unusual in that it really is just to explain the concept of the Elf visiting and reporting to Santa etc. There isn't really a story to be told as such in the book but it is nicely written with rhyming sentences and pictures to keep it entertaining. Our daughter requested the book for several bedtime reads in the run up to Christmas which makes it a hit (considering all of the other choices in the bookcase). The Elf toy is a little disappointing as it feels a little cheap and I was hoping it might have posable limbs that would make it easier to locate in fun and unusual places. Overall a recommended buy, you could of course just buy a toy Elf and explain the concept but I think the book makes this easier (especially if the concept is somewhat new to you).

not wired which would have made it perfect.
Authentic and the original... unlike the cheaper ones on the market. my only issue is with the fact I assumed the elf would have been wired so as to bend and position him with more ease. its great but I feel overpriced for what you get. that said the box book and elf are indeed excellent quality so its a classic case of you get what you pay for so I suppose the overpriced comment is redundant really so ignore that. . as my daughter isn't allowed to touch it..(due to it losing its magic). It will be safe to put in my own wires and attach velcro for when he comes out of his box next year. this enabling me to position him better.

Festive fun for years to come...
As someone who had many a tradition at Christmas when I was young, I wanted to introduce something new to my own children - que elf on a shelf! The item comes in a lovely presentation box which opens out, with the story (illustrated lovely, quality book) slipped into the left hand side and your own elf on the shelf sat behind a window on the right. We purchased 'An Elf Story: The Elf on the Shelf' DVD to accompany the product. This in my opinion is a must for younger children as it tells the story of how your elf comes to your home and why.... The dvd is also only 20 minutes long (it's become a firm favourite)! We've been watching the dvd in anticipation of the arrival of our elf on 1st Dec and can't wait to see the mischief he will cause (see Pinterest for great, if not hilarious Elf ideas).Would recommend to anyone looking for a family tradition at Christmas.

Fun for kids, but not for lovers of great design and illustration ; )
Wonderful idea, and I know it's now a bit of a trending thing to do pre-Christmas. For me, our elf 'Cuddles' is a bit dismally made, poor guy is somewhat cheaply constructed. I presumed he'd have Velcro arms to make him easy to hang off things and get up to monkey business but they are sewn together.I can't bear the see-through cheap felt he's made of, but the kids love him.The book that goes with him is o.k. but could be better, the 'story' is a bit naff, and very American in its wording, and there's about a million nicer Christmas stories about... However it does set the scene for the whole idea of the thing and my 4 year old listened to it all and obviously believes in the magic, loved naming our elf, and finds it a delight each day seeing where 'Cuddles' is.Overall, great concept and fun for the kids if you want to buy in to this new 'tradition' and over the years the £30 expenditure is nothing really, but for someone who's a lover of aesthetically pleasing design-led stuff, this isn't lighting any fires!

A must buy for children at Christmas time. Bought one last year for my son who was 6 at the time and he loved it. This year he's not counting down the days till Christmas Day He is counting down the days until his elf comes back.Great fun having your child find there elf in a new position every day. The excitement it brings them is magical. Bought one for my nephews Christmas this year and can't wait to see what antics his elf gets into. The book is great as it tells the story of why the elf is there. Comes in good quality packaging.

Great exciting idea for kids on the run up to Christmas.
This mischievous little elf got up to all kinds on the run up to Christmas (only limited by your imagination.... or the millions of ideas/pictures you'll find online). Our elf managed to get up to all kinds including eating all out chocolates and getting drunk after making a bar.... and he gathered some friends along the way.Book is nicely presented in the gift box with the elf.Elf doesn't have wires in arms or legs, but they seem to stay in most positions you want them.Had loads of fun making things for him to get up to... although my son was a little freaked out at first because he said it "shouldn't move", but he was soon running around looking to see what it had been up to.
