Update 2018-11-25I bought this product on January 20, 2017. Now, ~20 months later, the batteries are totally dead, and won't charge. The assembly of this model makes that battery replacement complicated, as half of the device needs to be uninstalled from the wall to make this happen.____________Original Review:I installed mine on the inside of an outdoor shed, with the solar panel mounted on the roof just next to the side wall. I had to drill a small hole for the cable to go through; it's got a connection on the end similar to the type of power charging cable that would plug into a laptop computer. I sealed the hole with DAP sealant (caulk / similar to white silicone). I've had rain in the mean time and the light still works.The light turns on automatically when I open the shed door. There are adjustments for the ambient light level (minimum) after which it will turn on if it senses motion, and there is a control for the duration of light before it switches off automatically.The light is bright enough for the inside of my ~2m x 4m shed.The one downside (hence a missing star) is that the location of the batteries in conjunction with the way that the light head assembly mechanism is mounted to the main unit makes it quite difficult to remove the battery pack from the light once the unit is installed. I gather that in the future I'll need to replace the batteries at some point, and this will be tedious. I opened the battery unit before I assembled the light, and it required removing the bolts that fasten the light head bracket on to the light. If the battery pack was made more accessible for battery replacement, this would be a 5 star product (given the price).

The good: solar panel is nice sized and seems sturdy. Switch to test if it works with different positions to set the mode (way better than lost in translation tap 3 times while facing almost north). There are dials to adjust the motion sensitivity, the length the light stays on and how dark it has to be to turn on...good idea!The Bad: the panel in which the leds are mounted is crooked. Doesn't appear to effect function and more than a few feet away you won't notice it, but I'm a details guy. If a manufacturer is willing to let obvious defects show how bad are the ones I can't see? The seal around the front glass wasn't seated in its channel fully and part of it was displaced and pinched in the frame...i.e. Not water proof there. Motion sensitivity seems fair. I have smaller less expensive lights that are more sensitive (but not adjustable) and brighter (but it hasn't had a few days to fully charge so can't really hold that against them),And the too soon to tell: how bright it will be when fully charged. How well the plastic mounts (which seem prettt beefy) hold up wind and UV.With a little more attention to detail this could have been a home run...but it just an almost made it so far.

I originally ordered two of these lights for out-door security lighting. One of the original two arrived defective, and was very dim. However, the store contacted me and sent a new one free of charge which worked well, so I have to give them credit for that. Having said that, in hindsight I would have went with a wired option for a higher level of luminosity. To the point though, these lights are a decent purchase for what they are, versatile, easily installable, and run on solar energy; it really is hassle free for the most part. The sensitivity of the motion detector seems to vary based on charge of battery, running anywhere from within 10 feet to around 20+. As well, when fully charged they are fairly bright; I feel bright enough to ward off the kids who've been walking through my alley way at 3AM. I probably would buy again if I was looking for a small outdoor light that was solar powered.

I bought 4 of these fixtures. Only 2 were found to work properly so returned two for a refund. Lumitact very cooperative with the returns. The two that I kept continue to perform as described and I am pleased with their performance. The amount of light generated for each is impressive and the LED's greatly enhance number of times the fixture turns on before exhausting the stored battery power,. After about 2 months of use, the two fixtures that I kept continue to perform as expected.

Great lights. Easy to install.
