Miele Classic C1 Pure Suction Bagged Canister Vacuum, Graphite Grey - Portable, Household

We have stone and saltillo tile floors, a few rugs, wood floors upstairs, high desert dust-magnet vigas (those tree-trunk logs that hold up roofs in adobe homes)...and a large canine family member who sheds her long, thick hair copiously after winter. I needed a second one of these for the upstairs--I'm getting too old to lug the only one up a circular metal staircase anymore. This basic pure suction Miele Classic C1--while it probably doesn't have the longevity of my beloved previous Miele Solaris, which lasted 16+ years--is PERFECT for reaching corners, adobe walls, floorboards, and vigas, while also having the power to suck up the animal hair. Yes, I have to take hair from the basic floor attachment every few minutes, but it's worth not worrying about the Powerline attachments going south, and which don't do well on stone or saltillo anyway. The GN bags are roomy (note: all the non-Miele bags and filters fit great but they clog the motor! Don't get them--it's worth it not to!), the attachments always fit perfectly and the wand reaches pretty much everywhere. The sale price made it irresistible, too, so I forked up and got another one. My arthritic joints are ecstatically grateful and my house is a lot cleaner a lot more often. Last year I got a used Dyson U16 on craigslist for upstairs but it's ponderously heavy, thunderously noisy, doesn't reach under or around things, and cleaning its filters is arduous. Miele vacuums are fabulous.

The vacuum is awesome! Not using in typical setting. I am a 18 wheeler driver and have a small dog with medium length hair. On the road I pickup a lot of sand, dust, and dog hair in my truck. If you see the picture I have a nice rug and it's hard to get dog hair out. The Miele makes easy work of that. I did add the hepa filter and the compact turbo (stb-20). It's get for my allergies and it's super quiet enough on Max power. If you ran any other vacuum and they turn this one on it like night and day with how quiet it is and the super strong suction. It's pretty small too but it might not look that way in a small place the like a truck.

What an excellent vaccine! It replaced a Filter Queen as I prefer the slim and light weight vacuum stick that can easily get under furniture. So much easier than lugging a heavy handheld. The canister is so lightweight and I’m delighted as it can be easily put on a table so I can extend the already extendable vacuum to 12 ft ceiling to get the occasional webs. When I had a question and called the company they were EXCELLENT! This company has one of the best response team’s and stands by their product!

Had a Dyson upright, which was very awkward to use and very heavy and top heavy. This new vacuum is fantastic, light and glides effortlessly across the floor. Quiet as well, cats still know it is a vacuum, but a lot less noise. This model is for flat floors and low flat carpet, it doesn't have a rotating brush for beating thick carpets. It looks like it would work on flat carpets and throw rugs, but not on any carpets with plush to them. The attachments are basic and work fine. The crevasse tool is kind of short, and the brush could be angled more, for doing shelves and high spots. The suction is strong and there is a indicator that shows when the suction is obstructed by something jammed in the hose, or the bag is filled. Makes vacuuming a lot easier.

I will answer the question that most of you have - if you have many area rugs, mats and carpet (low pile to manageable medium pile), which model should you buy? If money is no object, get the powered version that uses the powered hose. The C1 does NOT include any power hose even if it may look like it does - it is suction only. I wouldn't consider using it for shag carpet and can see it as a beast to manage.I have many area rugs and low pile carpet. The basic C1 Pure is the exact same engine as every other Miele C1 - the ONLY difference are the attachments. Here is where it gets challenging and I will tell you my experience.The C1 Pure attachment includes the SBD 365-3 Combination Floorhead. It's OK and will be the one tool to have the worst 'stick' effect to your rugs and carpets. I had to turn my vacuum down to the lower or lowest suction to have some semblance of "smooth" rolling over my carpets and rugs. I hated that it has a plastic bottom and wondered how abrasive this effect was, since pushing forward is the only easy way and there is friction, albeit manageable at that low level. I'd only buy this for mostly wood or tile floor, but even then I'm not so thrilled with the attachment. Now this model can be purchased for MUCH less than the Turbo model at times, and some buy replacement aftermarket tools like the Splinova Miele Turbo Head Cleaner, Hand Attachment and Floor Tool Accessory. I have not used it and some swear it's near as good as the original. You'll save about $65 off of buying the Turbo edition. But it's not all that clear.The attachment you want is the STB 305-3 TurboTeQ Floorhead. It is the only one that is non-powered that makes vacuuming on rugs and low pile carpet manageable. You can raise the vacuum level higher and push forward. Backward will created a stacked, brushed out look and friction, likely because the wheel is spinning forward and you're overpowering it moving it backward. So you'll need to only go forward to be truly effective, picking it up and pulling back to go forward again if you want to stay in a similar spot. As to the brush attachment, it is better than the Combination Floorhead which is pretty good for what it is and certainly convenient. I've seen some say the bristles wear out more quickly and wondered whether I'd be better off with a cheaper imitation of this tool if I really felt it necessary.So - even though I got a GREAT deal on the C1 Pure and then saw the price was raised, I wasn't sure this was the way to go. Problem is Miele's seriously overpriced accessories required 2 accessories to replace the Pure, which was OK but I wondered about durability and the issue I mentioned. You don't need to go that route because the Floorhead is a pretty good tool. But if you want to replace that brush, you need to buy two supposedly 'quality' accessories your savings from the Pure model. So the $95 savings of the Pure of the Turbo drop from $65 to near $35-40 - which still seems better but not really as much. So I opted for the C1 Turbo when it was on sale - but the Pure can certainly be an option + aftermarket tool. Just be aware of this and you can be pretty darn happy to save on overpriced Miele accessories if you wish to go that route.HEPA Filters: It's incredibly ludicrous and a very bad choice for Miele not to include a Hepa filter and that you have to buy them aftermarket, at least those are the affordable ones. If you're paying a premium for the product, this seems ludicrous and a nice use by competitors in the market should they step up their game. I still wouldn't avoid purchasing due to this, just buy a HEPA filter if you need it. You can use the original until it goes.I think ALL of Miele's products are overpriced at a premium. They are better than their competitors at present. Their accessory prices are ludicrously overpriced. An extension tube aka crevice tool is $34 for a piece of flexible plastic. For some reason aftermarket have done mediocre jobs and some say they are worthwhile. When deciding which model to purchase, very seriously consider the accessories. To me, the Blue Turbo C1 was the right model on sale and, from there, I would ONLY consider a powered model with the powered power nozzle as an option. But that was way out of my price range and need.Short Cord: Yes - it's unfortunately only 20 feet. Nobody in the US cares how small apartment rooms are in Germany when they are vacuuming their 20 foot rooms and stretching to the ends and going no further. Accept it. They don't have to change anything until a competitor comes ot the market.Bags: They are small. Very small. However, I found I could do a 1100 SF apartment and not fill a bag, maybe take me a couple of times to fill it. After using other devices with larger bags, it came down to not wanting to ruin my rugs and carpets and this was the compromise. Hope this helps.

I’m over 65 and I can’t push anything really heavy so this works fantastically for me. I have hardwood floors Persian carpets and some of the rooms have regular carpets and the suction Power on this is absolutely fantastic…. I even have a built-in vacuum in my home and the hose was so heavy. I couldn’t push it. It did a great job on picking up all the crumbs in my couch too.
