User friendly and great image
The manual and associated YouTube videos made the Raymarine Element easy to program and get use to using. I recently went through the same process with the Lowrance Elite and found the Raymarine much easier to use and fine tune. I'll stick with Raymarine on my kayaks and motor boats from now on.

Raymarine Realvision is Better Resolution than Traditional Sonar
The fishfinder transducer is fairly easy to install on a transom, but not enough detail is given for its projection below the hull, I guess we have to experiment, but that is tedious & time consuming. The directions for the unit itself are confusing concerning what size 12v power fuse is needed. At first, it says a 7 amp fuse, but on that same page it then says a 5 amp fuse is used. And I thought the directions for operation of the unit were too techy & not too user friendly. But the unit does give a fair amount of detail of bottom structure in 1. 2 mhz realvision mode, although so far I have only been able to look at the mud bottom of the mouth of the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio. Next week I hope to take it around Put-In-Bay where there are rocks on the bottom of Lake Erie. When I first received the unit it didn't look like I would be able to fit it on my small boat but since I then learned that I was unable to upgrade my existing fishfinder purchased last summer, I went ahead with installation of the Raymarine Element and got it to fit and operate properly and no longer intended to return it to the seller. I am now content with the product and say thumbs up to them and the fishfinder!

Raymarine quality and customer service.
On July 16, 2019 purchased an element 7. I attempted to update software after I installed the unit in my boat. It would not update. Called Raymarine customer service. I was instructed to perform a factory reset. I did this twice with no success. I was then told to return the unit. I could not get shipping information from the representative. I went to their website and sent two separate email requests for detailed information as to where I needed to return the unit. I still have received no response. In summation: 1. I received a brand new unit that does not work properly. 2. Raymarine’s customer service needs improvement. It was an expensive lesson. I will NOT be buying another Raymarine product and will not be recommending their equipment.

Great while it lasted
It stopped booting up after only a handful of uses. I noticed it lagged when starting up the last time I used it. The next time I tried to use it, it would turn on and go to the startup screen but would not go beyond that. None of the troubleshooting suggestions from Raymarine worked to fix the problem. I can't figure out where to send it to have it worked on. Super frustrating.

image is fantastic
great images and I have the 7" which has lower resolution (imagine the 12")! The system is easy to learn to navigate. Keep in mind for sidescan you can not simply add a 2nd HV100 transducer with this unit like you can with other models. If you think you need a 2nd transducer due to motor placement there are other transducers you can get but will cost a lot more. I had to mount mine literally on the bottom of my boat where I have a metal support for the articulating keel (tapped and bolted it on). Without the transom blocking the water it does lose signal above 15-20 mph but I have ran 40mph and the bracket is holding strong (until I hit something in the water). Will come up with a different solution soon. Like I said though image quality is great. Better images than the competition in my opinion. 3D does work as well and It helps you see where the fish are on the sidescan in relation to the boat (sidescan fish are not easy to see). Also I did have to talk to tech support. First person was at a call center reading the same paperwork that I had, she transferred me to a couple other guys and one of them REALLY knew what he was talking about. He was very helpful.
