McClean Design: Creating the Contemporary House

I ordered this book for my coffee and the book contains some great design ideas and is a great read so far. The book is made of good quality and appears well made.

Paul McClean is an amazing architect that designs homes in all sizes and different areas but mostly in California. The book has many beautiful pictures of homes that range in size from a few thousand square feet to a 30,000 square foot home in Bel Air that’s on the market for 180 million dollars. All of the homes have floor plans of the main floors which is great in that it shows how the spaces flow from one area to the next. It you love contemporary homes this book is a must have.

I have this book on my coffee table and every time my friends look thru it they Dream about living in one of these homes.

Great modern style. An insight into beautiful luxury house design.

My husband, Mark, bought this book directly from Paul McClean. At Mark's request and to his utter delight the entire design team signed it. Paul McClean is the most important contemporary architect of his generation. This book provides detailed architectural drawings of how floors and floor plans fit together to create the 3D bridges and walkways that have made Paul McClean famous. It is his spatial understanding with the surrounding environment that has made him a unique artist. We have been following McClean Design on Instagram for a long time. As much as we like Instagram for collecting ideas, it does not provide the quality illustrations included in this book or the historic background perspective. We strongly recommend it for anyone who is an architecture student, architecture fan or who appreciates art. This is as good as it gets. We really appreciate having it in our collection. Thank you.

I got this book as a gift for Dad's day - McClean Design is an amazing firm, and Paul McClean's attention to the elements of good design, balancing solid and void, paying attention to visual interest in all of his elevations, and then in the interior design features is just mind boggling. Some of his best works - for me - were the smaller homes in Laguna Beach that get closer to what most of us know as an average American home. I think most of us would also be appreciative if McClean Design would marry sustainability with awesome design!
